Creative Art Journaling Series

Session 4 - Layers of Possibility - Backgrounds

Join me in this fourth session of creative art journalling where we’ll be creating backgrounds as a foundation for your creative work. I’ll be sharing some simple techniques to help you create unique backgrounds that can inspire and support your journalling practice and of course there will reflective questions to help explore your self awareness. What to Bring: Any journal, notebook, or loose paper - bring extra sheets for experimenting! Paint such as acrylic, watercolour, or gesso/white acrylic A few basic art supplies: pens, markers, crayons, pastels. Bring whatever you have available. Tools for creating texture this could be cling film, sponges, old credit cards, stencils, or anything that makes an interesting mark. If you enjoy collaging, bring magazines, scraps of paper, glue, and scissors. A hairdryer or creative drying tool to speed things up between layers. This session is all about creative exploration and self-expression. There’s no right or wrong way, just layers of colour, texture, and meaning waiting to emerge. At times, unexpected thoughts or emotions may arise during these activities. I’m looking forward to seeing what unfolds in your creative practice!” This session is all about you—a space for creativity, self-discovery, and exploration. There’s no right or wrong way to approach this process; simply come with an open mind and a willingness to be who you are.
